Since when has Poverty and Hunger become a scarlet letter
Society’s Judge and Jury scream “They should know better?
People wearing their hunger like an old, tattered sweater
We are tallying what we give like a calculating creditor
A world where some sit on their throne of self-righteousness
I pray people open their eyes, Lord please help enlighten us
To care about each other with love and not let fear frighten us
Because we can’t lose our compassion, we can’t lose the trust
We must rise above, we must care and reach deep within
Not deafen ourselves to the cries and needs, we have to listen
Not just auditory, but visually, physically, mentally and emotionally
Be our brothers and sisters keeper with love and humanity
